Ethical Climates - Current Status and Future Research Agenda

ABSTRACT: Ethical Climates - Current Status and Future Research Agenda Understanding ethics within companies remain critical as incidences of unethical behavior continue to occur. One of the most studied characterizations of ethical culture within an organization is the ethical climate concept (Victor & Cullen, 1988; Cullen, Parboteeah, & Victor, 2003). The ethical climate thus refers to the organization's shared perception of what is the appropriate way to handle issues with ethical implications. Given the utility of the ethical climate concept, the presentation will first provide a general overview of the concept. A broad overview of both domestic and international ethical climate studies will be discussed. The presentation will then conclude with a discussion of unexplored areas and general recommendations regarding future ethical climate research.
