"Corporate governance change and employees: case in Japan“

Japanese firms were traditionally managed with a focus on employee interests rather than that of shareholders. However, because of the institutional change and corporate governance reform in recent years, top managers are considered to focus more on shareholder interests. We investigate how changes in corporate governance impact the interests of employees and shareholders. In particular, we concurrently analyze the impact of corporate governance on dividend policies and employment adjustments.
