From Entrepreneur to Organization:  The Carl Zeiss case

Entrepreneurs found organizations and shape them. Yet, how do individual entrepreneurs shape organizations? We know little about the process in which entrepreneurs shape organizations as they are founded and grow. Despite much research on organizational imprinting, for instance, we have little knowledge of how imprinted characteristics persist in growth. Drawing on archival material, I trace how two entrepreneurs have passed on their habits for developing optical instruments at Carl Zeiss.
