Title: Credibility Assessment of Social Media Information
Abstract:
“The wealth of online information fueled by a remarkable upsurge of social media heightens the need of credibility assessment. Credibility is used to broadly refer to the quality of information being trustworthy or convincing. This talk will first give an overview of our several ongoing or completed research studies examining the credibility of social media data. It will then provide a detailed discussion of two topics, including assessment of online review helpfulness and modeling of lending outcomes in an online financial credit market. We will also discuss the practical implications and challenges of credibility assessment in social media.”
