  • Title: Leaders' experiences of the challenges and solutions in leading multilocational knowledge work - A leader development training intervention on improving related abilities
  • Abstract: This presentation reports on the Leading Multilocational Work (LEAD) intervention project (2024–2025, Finnish Work Environment Fund), which studied challenges of leading multilocational knowledge work and tested a training program to improve leadership skills. Data from 28 leaders in three Finnish organizations identified key issues in onboarding, knowledge transfer, community building, and managing self-direction. A structured intervention, evaluated with longitudinal surveys and Bayesian modeling, showed sustained improvements in leaders’ abilities to support learning, strengthen social capital, foster motivation, and enhance preparedness. Findings highlight the value of intentional community-building and balanced leadership in multilocational contexts.
