Title: Leadership, creativity, and innovation
Abstract
In this seminar, I will present three studies in the field of leadership. First I present a critical comprehensive review of a large number of empirical studies (N = 174) exploring the main effects of leadership on workplace creativity and innovation. The paper also presents a number of taxonomies that organize the extant research, highlight understudied areas, and serve as a guide for future variable selection. The second paper I will present is a meta-analysis (N = 105) investigating the effects of EL on employee work behavior. We found evidence for the positive effects of EL on performance, organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), and creativity at both the individual- and team-level. Lastly, I will discuss a recent project where we explore how various functional and dysfunctional leadership styles influence employees’ perceptions of leader trustworthiness and trust in leader.
